With so many social media tactics flying around online, some brands tend to forget that ‘social’ is the keyword here. Are you actually listening to and engaging with your followers and fans? When last did you take the time to strike up a conversation with a customer? While spending hours on social media every day is not always possible for businesses owners, if you have a big enough following and receive a lot of traffic and feedback from social media platforms, it might be worthwhile hiring someone who can fulfil this function for you.

Show your passion

What you post on social media should truly represent what your brand is all about. Show what you’re passionate about and build your content around that. By focusing on your core brand values you can really create some unique content. If your company supports specific causes or charities, show your support online too.

Up your creativity

Social media is very visual so make sure that everything you send out online looks incredible and speaks to what your brand is all about. Invest in a designer or social media expert who can tick all the right creativity boxes.

Listen up

Campaigns and brands that really stick out are usually quick to respond and are always on the lookout for trends. Find someone in your team who can listen to online conversations, keep an eye on the news and find ways for your brand to get on-board with trends as they happen. These should of course be relevant to your brand which means these opportunities might be few and far between, but if done right, can be a very effective tactic. You could even do this without ever leaving your social media pages. So many brands have managed to reply to comments from fans or followers in quirky and fun ways that have led to them going viral.
